Receives Investment from
Dell Ventures
New York, January 15, 2001 - PartMiner, Inc., an online provider of
content, technology and procurement service to the electronic components industry, today
announced its three-year agreement with Dell Computer Corporation (Nasdaq: DELL), the
worlds leading direct computer systems company and a premier supplier of technology
for the Internet infrastructure. The agreement designates PartMiner as a supplier of
hard-to-find electronic components and provider of content technology; in addition, Dell
Ventures has made an equity investment in PartMiner.
Dell plans to utilize PartMiners content technology and market making services
within Dells core component engineering and procurement groups. PartMiners
market maker, PartMiner Direct, will provide procurement services to Dell and its contract
manufacturers in instances when the company's primary suppliers are unable to meet
unplanned upside demand for components essential for production.
It is a major endorsement for our company to have an industry leader such as Dell
invest and bring us in to their supply chain, said Dan Nissanoff, CEO of PartMiner.
We are proud of the depth of our offerings that made this partnership happen.
PartMiner will customize for Dell its Free Trade Zones content catalog and
technology on over 12 million electronic components to utilize in developing and
populating their Bill of Materials (BOM). Dell, in addition to its equity investment, will
designate representatives to advise PartMiners technology product development team
with input on enhancing PartMiner online technology offerings.
We believe that PartMiner can enhance Dells frictionless procurement processes
with information and technology that together will drive greater value throughout our
supply chain, said Glenn Neland, Dells Vice President of Worldwide
Procurement.
